We open with a short sit to land and open. John recaps the historical context and evolution of Buddhism that leads to the primary method of the Bodhisattva which is Compassion. He dives in deep to explain how Compassion works biologically and culturally, referencing the latest evolutionary and neurological research.
Human beings are wired to be natural cooperators and assist in each other’s flourishing, and John so gently and non-judgmentally explains what gets in the way of our behaving with care and kindness. The primary antidote to our feeling of separateness is to hone a sense of common humanity, know that we all share the same desire to be happy and avoid suffering, and make an effort to be physically together.
