I very good introduction into Nadi Shodhana. I think Nadi Shodhana is both a Kriya and a Pranyama. Maybe a cleaning breathing technique? Looking up on the internet, sometimes Nadi Shodhana is called a Kriya and sometimes a Pranayama. I never learnt to place the ring finger over the pinkie. With this hand position, I could feel both fingertips on my nose. Very nice!

It can be a bit confusing if you're not familiar with the traditional literature. Google Gheranda Samhita (late 1600s) and go to 5.38-45, which clearly describes nadi purification. Then go to 5.48-53, which describes a pranayama called sahita ("joined"). The process is the same but the mental contents are different. Hope this helps..."

Thank you so much Richard. I searched in the internet, and I found it. I did a teacher training in Germany and one here in the USA, I never learnt somwething about all of the four Hatha Yoga texts (Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Shiva Samhita, Goraksha Shataka and Gheranda Samhita). They only mentioned the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and the Yoga Sutras. Maybe because they are the best-known texts. I love to be a Yoga student for the rest of my life

Thank you Richard. I love this practice and am reminded now to include it more often. Like Silke, I had never learned to place the ring finger over the little finger in this mudra. It feels better this way. I'm really enjoying this breathwork :))
