To a some extent, I am experiencing the benefits of starting to learn the grammatical paradigms in Sanskrit, with other language acquisition. Many years ago I studied a bit of German, but really got stuck when we hit the case endings. Now, I feel like going back to study German would not be nearly so daunting, because I have to juggle significantly more case endings in Sanskrit! Maybe one day - ! I also love to compare the systems in English and French with the Sanskrit grammar as I learn it. Etymology is also fascinating! It is a thrill when I find another word that is cognate with one I have just learned in Sanskrit. It is, truly, the mother tongue!
Dear Kate, Uttamam to know that you are able to relate to the mixed approach to learning Sanskrit. Sanskrit in more ways than one, is a brilliant tool to facilitate learning and appreciation of other languages. Shubhamastu! :)
