It is an answer to a dream to have not only yoga classes available to me at any time of day or night, but also to learn the intricacies of a magnificent language such as sanskrit. You are such a blessing to me.
Dear Janet, very happy that this helps your dream come true .. hope that it will prove to be a most enriching experience. Grateful to you too for joining me on this wonderful journey :)
Is there any particular order to study by or just jump in wherever I want. Started with k and the vowels. loved writing in the air. remembered the letters more easily than writing on paper. I can see where all of the Arabic vowels came from. What fun.
Dear Janet, there is a usual order that one should learn the alphabet - start with the 16 VOWELS, then GUTTURALS - Ka... -> PALATALS - Ca... -> CEREBRALS Ta... -> DENTALS ta... -> LABBIALS Pa... -> SEMIVOWELS Ya.. -> SIBILANTS sha ... -> CONJUNCT CONSONANTS - Ksa... The logic in this order is that the 25 consonants from Ka to ma follow the order in which sound comes out of the vocal system so as you pronounce these sounds you give your vocal system as well as your brain a gentle and systematic massage through sound and touch with a natural incorporation of breath :)
Having said that there is a usual order in which the alphabet is learnt, you could also play with the different groups of letters independently and enjoy the full experience of understanding the mechanism behind each sound and becoming aware of their impact on your body and mind .. relish each sound, let each sound fall like a drop into your consciousness and allow its ripples to invade your being .. dance with letters and absorb it fully in every dimension of your self! :)
