Love it when a class comes along that causes me to dig into my little yoga prop cabinet and fish out props that I actually do have but rarely use. This class was harder than it may look (in a good way) and I’m pretty sure I’ll be feeling this tomorrow 👍 I’m also adding this class to my favorites to remind me to practice with these bands more often!
I didn't have a band so I used a belt instead. Sometimes I just copied the movement bur still felt my muscles being gently challenged. Thanks for this practice Melina. Namaste.
Jenny, so glad to hear it challenged you in a good way—and thrilled the resistance bands are making a comeback from your prop cabinet!
Glenford, I so appreciate these reviews and hearing how you’ve found ways to adapt the practice with a belt. Hopefully, you’ll be able to find a resistance band nearby—they’re incredibly valuable and add an extra layer of strength-building to your practice.
I expected to see more yoga poses or a yoga class using the resistance of the flex band. Most of the exercises shown in your class are Pilates exercises I teach to my students. I find it surprising to have a Pilates class labelled as a yoga class.
Hello Lina ~ Thank you for your comment! You're absolutely right that some of the movements in this class draw from Pilates and fitness traditions. In this mobility series, I’ve intentionally woven in some “cross-pollination” to introduce a wider audience to the benefits these modalities can offer when integrated thoughtfully into a yoga practice. My intention is to support students in building strength, stability, and functional movement—complementing their yoga practice rather than replacing it. I appreciate you sharing your perspective and love that you're bringing this work to your own students as well! I promise not all the classes will feel like a Pilates session! Wishing you a great summer.
I know as we age weight/resistance "opportunities" are important to incorporate into daily life, so I thank you for this class along with your other series of practices.
Loved this practice. I especially liked the standing pose sequences. I had my classes do it both with band and after. Everyone loved it!!!! I really appreciate your creativity and sequencing.
