Wow, Ashley!! To be able to maintain the story thread simultaneously with the āsana progression is a formidable task!! And it was a very difficult posture to boot!
I had never made the link between the Narasimha story and the name for the āsana, so thank you for this enlightening connection!
(In The Language of Yoga by Nicholai Bachman - the very first resource I discovered for a basic meaning of the āsana names, he gives a simple translation: gandha = side of face; bherunda = formidable. Perhaps he wasn't aware of the mythological connection either.)
