Thanks for your reply, Kira! The tension/pain is definitely hanging out in the exhale/rounding.

As I've done this practice (and arturo's) for the last week I've noticed that all the mischief is in the exhale/curling under. inhale/arching lower back is totally fine. Can you recommend places that might be the source? Arturo pointed out that hips can be a likely culprit. Weak core? Simply arthritis? Thanks for  your lovely teaching!
