David Gordon White, PhD, a specialist in South Asian religions, is the J. F. Rowny Professor of Comparative Religions at Univerity of California.
He has been teaching in Santa Barbara since 1996. We love his penetrating insight, skilled humor, sincerity, and insatiable curiosity. His research and questions allow us to take another look and loosen our grip on what we think we know.
Dr. White is the author of four books that trace the history of yoga from its origins to the present day: The Alchemical Body: Siddha Traditions in Medieval India; Kiss of the Yogini: “Tantric Sex” in its South Asian Contexts; Sinister Yogis; and The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali: A Biography. He is also the editor of Tantra in Practice and Yoga in Practice.
