Mark is Professor of History at American Public University System. He earned his Ph.D. in history from Case Western Reserve University.
He is currently writing a book with Katie Spotz, the youngest person to row across the Atlantic Ocean.
Mark is committed to promoting social justice projects both locally and globally. In his hometown of Akron, Ohio he volunteers his time as the Technology Manager at the Peter Maurin Center, which assists the large numbers of homeless in the area. He is also involved in JustFaith Ministries which seeks to care for the poor and vulnerable throughout the world.
He has been married to his wife, Nancy since 1990. They are raising their three daughters—Isabelle (b. 2000), and twins Emma and Sarah (b. 2009)—on the edge of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in northeast Ohio.
