Ayurveda is the "sister science" of Yoga. In these powerful and effective practices, we weave together asana, mantra, and mudra to move energy, breathe more freely, and detoxify the body. You will feel balanced and in tune with the natural world around you.
In Season 1 we draw inspiration from the Planets. Known in Sanskrit as navagraha, or “nine graspings”, each Planet has its own particular influence, and can impact us differently depending on their astrological positions. These short, powerful episodes weave together mantra, mudra, and asana to help us align with the positive aspects of the planets. Together, we practice in cooperation with these nine forces to develop our intuition, tune us into the cosmos, and pierce the sense of separateness.
This season is focused on the 4 purusharthas, or goals of life in Hindu philosophy: dharma, artha, kama, and moksha. We explore these concepts through both asana and reflection, as a method of finding balance between purpose, work, pleasure, and spiritual connection. Together, we will move through 4 active practices to attend the physical body, and 4 internal practices to honor the subtle body, and look at how to integrate these goals so you can make the changes you need in any stage of your life.
