Hi Nathan, Just letting you know that you have still not got rid of me on your 30 day challenge! - I've been thinking about why I like this so much - apart from the fact that there are 30 different sessions here - which keep me going for about 5 weeks... I realise that I feel safe here - your approach ensures that I am concentrating on doing poses carefully and not rushing anything. When I dip into some of the other sessions on this website, I often feel rushed and there is no time to think or feel what is going on... I am still a long way from achieving some of the advanced poses, but there may be some micro-steps forwards in some places which is very satisfying. Thanks again for putting this together. Jo x
Hi Jo S!! This comment absolutely makes my heart sing. This is exactly what I am hoping for, creating a space and proper time for you feel yourself in these practices. I think that where the magic happens. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. And don’t forget, if you ever need help or ideas for the more advanced poses, I am always happy to help.
Many thanks Nathan, I have really enjoyed day 1. I usually do intermediate but thought going back to level one would be very beneficial. Looking forward to the rest of the challenge.
Hi Kim I, great to connect with you! This series is built on a progression so I think you’ll find some solid challenges deeper in the program. Like you said though, it’s always nice to revisit the foundations. Reach out any time if you have questions.
Yes thanks Nathan, I do find yoga pretty challenging anyway having very stiff hips and hamstrings. Not as young as I used to be but at 68 I'm extremely active.
Kim I, since you mention stuff hips and hamstrings I thought I’d share one thing that really helped me in my practice with similar issues.
If you are talking about stiffness from doing the daily grind or sports then yoga can be a god send in resetting the body. But if the hips and hamstrings constantly feel “tight “ it may be a sign that you’re pushing too far into the pose. In this case, some muscular resistance at the end range of the pose is very important.
It took me years to realize why I could not shake my “tightness”. Turns out it was my body saying stop, too far.
I thought I would share this because it transformed my practice and my body and because I suffered so long before I figured it out 🤪
Thanks Nathan, I am working now on what is far enough and using the blocks a bit more
I am a keen cyclist and usually cycle at least 100 miles per week (weather permitting). This really helps my hips to feel less stiff with age but does take its toll on the hamstrings and quads.
Day four was really good, I am loving the pace of these classes.
