We love Birgitte's quiet depths and passion for teaching. As a Senior Yoga Teacher and Teacher Trainer with over 28 years of experience, her teaching focuses on alignment to increase stability, flexibility, and balance, bringing each student to a sense of inner calm and equanimity.
Originally from Denmark, Birgitte moved to Los Angeles at an early age, studying psychology, massage therapy, meditation, & yoga. Since her early teens Birgitte suffered from anxiety, OCD, and later an eating disorder, and yoga quickly became a healing modality for her. Yoga helped her find a place of inner calm, and a sense of connectedness, which in turn motivated her to help others, and she started teaching yoga full time in 1993.
Birgitte sees yoga as a way to clear any obstructions which separate us from who we innately are so instead we can experience wholeness. It is a beautiful and profound practice that can benefit all of us at any age.
Birgitte has been particularly influenced by the following yoga teachers: Erich Schiffman, Lisa Walford, Maty Ezraty, Rod Stryker, Richard Miller, Rolf Sovik, and Gary Kraftsow. She continues learning from her co-trainers, fellow teachers, and especially her students. Birgitte recently co-founded Yoga Changes yoga studio, in Santa Monica, CA.
