Maeve McCaffrey

Maeve's introduction to yoga was at home on her family's small organic farm in Vermont. The youngest child of four, her brothers would go off to school, and until she was five and in kindergarten, she spent the days with her mother who had a daily yoga practice and taught in her circle of friends. Maeve would sit in and watch or "play yoga" with her mother, building the roots of her practice at that young age and the playfulness that influences her approach to how she teaches now.

After a yoga hiatus until her early 20's, Maeve stepped away from organized sports and rekindled her love for yoga as a means to find some healing and balance in her body. As a group fitness instructor, she used yoga as her wind down at the end of an exhausting day of teaching. What she didn't expect was the healing and balance it provided for her emotional and mental health. She was hooked! As many teachers find, Maeve didn't intend to teach yoga when she took her first teacher training; she simply wanted to dive deeper, but organically found herself passing on what she knew. She has had the pleasure of learning from many esteemed teachers including David Swenson, Shiva Rea, and Jason Crandell.

Maeve's classes are playful, and full of love and the idea that yoga meets you wherever you are in your life, on any given day. She believes in self-regulation, offering students freedom and choices to expand the realm of what they think is possible, creating a space to cultivate joy and fun. A lifelong lover of sports and dance, she teaches a strong, fluid asana practice infused with breath, balance, and introspection. Maeve currently teaches public classes for Equinox and online.

A New Englander at heart, Maeve now happily resides in Los Angeles with her partner, their two cats Liu Liu and Little Mister, and the center of their universe: their son with whom she "plays yoga."
